Spices: the medicine of the nature

Spices, not only they enrich the dishes with taste, but they have also specific properties that interact with our organism. There are spices with an anti inflammatory, digestive, regulation for the intestine and energizer.

A thousands and one Spice from the east

There is a spice for each palate, sweet as cinnamon and cardamom, spiced as pepper and curry, pungent as cumin and ginger like curcuma, asafoetida and coriander.

Each of them has a unique taste, a specific aroma and secret properties and precious benefits for the human body.

It is time to discover the properties of 5 spices considered fundamental for the taste of the East Medicine:

  • Chilli pepper

Not only it give to the dishes a unique touch and a lash of chilli and pungent taste but it is a real cure-all to get into shape! The capsaicin contained, in fact, is able to enhance the metabolism like few other foods. Moreover, the pepper is considered an anti- inflammatory and painkilling, a perfect solution to alleviate itch, allergy and eczemas.
Finally, it is a vasodilator, it enhances the blood flux and refresh the circulatory system, keeping under control sugar and cholesterol in the blood.

  • Curcuma

Famous for its anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer is the riches spice of anti-oxidants. It is a root, similar to a tuber or ginger, with a rough grey peel and pulp with a strong lively orange. In India, it is mixed with water and gypsum and applied on the skin as protection from the sun and lenitive for burning and infections.

It is a depurative problem because it helps to eliminate the toxins, to melt the fats and fight the hydric retention: the perfect help in hypo caloric diets and to defeat cellulite. If you are bloated, taste a hot infusion with pieces of ginger: its detox power will help you!

  • Cumin

Intense taste and pungent perfume, cumin is among the main spices consumed in India (the main part of the curry) and used in the Ayurveda medicine. It is well appreciated for its high content of iron and the ability to lower the levels of cholesterol and sugars in the blood. Its consumption is efficient to reinforce the immune system and prevent osteoporosis.

  • Cardamom

Dulcis in fundo, cardamom… sweet spice, hot and intriguing, perfect to give a mystery touch of East to coffee, infusion and desserts but also soups and vegetables. Its intense and deep aroma is enclosed in a green bean with small black seeds cultivated in India and Sri Lanka.

It boasts stimulating and tonic properties but also other substances that help to limit the creation of mucus, to fight throat ache and flue. It is perfect to refresh the breath, clean the teeth and disinfect the mouth or to weaken the irritation thanks to the properties anti-inflammatory.
