Friuli Venezia Giulia is a border region and for this reason its cuisine and its food traditions are mixed with other border regions, so the regional specialities are the result of perfect mix between two or more cultures. This characteristic defines lots of dishes making its cuisine extraordinary and unique.
Famous are the high quality spicy meat such as the hams: raw ham or smoked ham of Sauris, Raw Ham San Daniele, raw ham or smoked ham of Cormons, raw ham or smoked ham of Carso. Friuli Venezia Giulia is different from the other region because of the presence of the mountains which allow the cultivation of products like fruit and vineyards, well known is the apple juice and cider, “Friulano” (vine variety), “Friuli Annia Refosco dal peduncolo rosso”, “Friuli Isonzo Verduzzo friulano”, “Friuli Annia Verduzzo friulano”, “Ramandolo”. Do not forget the typical desserts like “pinza” or “strudel”.
