Cappuccino and croissant will always have their illustrious charm, but the breakfast has became a serious thing.
Since years, breakfast is celebrated as the most important meal of the day, convincing many people, above all who wish to follow a healthier lifestyle.
The high content of sugar and the glycaemic index in croissants and desserts, together with the absence of fibers and proteins unmasked the typical Italian breakfast, giving room to numerous proposal of alternative breakfasts to make it a complete and nourishing meal.

Five alternative breakfasts absolutely to try

We give you 5 ideas of healthy, balanced and tasty breakfasts to try to transform this meal in the most important meal of the day.

1. Porridge and fruit

Do not horrify earing the word porridge! The oat pudding has nothing to see with the sad glop that you have in mind. Actually, porridge is a creamy mix to eat oat, that is rich in fibers, with a low glycaemic index, lots of proteins and nourishing.
The evening before, mix in a pan 2-3 spoons of oat, a cup of milk (vegetable or cow’s milk), a spoon of chia seeds to thicken the mix, a spoon of honey and an handful of dried fruit like almonds, walnut, cashew and raisin, if you like.
In the morning, cook for 10 minutes until the oat become creamy, pour in a bowl and decorate with season fresh fruit, cut in dices.
Taste with a black tea or an orange juice.

2. Budwig cream

These super breakfast is ideal for the hottest days. The Budwig cream, created by the homonym doctor, has been modified by the nutritionist and doctor Kousmine that make it famous. The recipe foresees a smoothie with yogurt (cow’s or soy milk) and banana, enriched by linen seeds, grinded all together and a handful of whole cereals (rice, barley and oat) using a small mixer or grinder. Blend the mix adding a spoon of honey, maple or agaves syrup and other oily seeds as you like. Add seasonal fruits in dices and eat immediately to enjoy all the nutrients. Pair it with a green tea.

3. Savoury breakfast

Proteins, good fats and whole cereals are a winning combination. Choose a whole bread, enriched with cereals and seeds, toast it in a pan and place on it half a avocado cut in thin slices. This avocado toasted sandwich is perfect paired with scrambled eggs or omelette. If you don’t like eggs, substitute them with smoked salmon.
A fruit or a orange juice are perfect together with a black coffee.

4. Banana, blueberry or dark chocolate smoothie

Do you wake up with an uncontrollable desire of dessert? Give yourself a healthy delicacy! Freeze dices of banana, blend with two spoons of milk, a spoon of cocoa and a teaspoon of honey and you will obtain a creamy chocolate ice cream. Finally, if you like, sprinkle with rape coconut or grinded almond.

5. Ricotta cheese, honey and home made granola

You can chose Greek yogurt, even if ricotta cheese, better if light, is a good alternative for a good breakfast. Blend to make it spumy, cover with liquid honey and finally, sprinkle with a crispy granola, but not the usual industrial muesli, prepare by yourself this delicious granola.
Mix 300 gr of oat flakes with 200 gr of almonds and nuts and 80 gr of teaspoon of powdered cinnamon or break a vanilla bean that you should remove and add a handful of pumpkin seeds.
Melt 80 ml of honey in the same quantity of warm water, together with 40 ml of sunflower oil and a teaspoon of brown sugar, we advise you muscobado. Melt the syrup in bain-marie and season the cereals. Place on a baking pan and cook for 40 minutes at 180°. Each quarter of hour blend and stir the granola. What a great smell!!
