Apples from Val Venosta, high demanded all over Europe

Golden, Delicious, Kanzi and Gala: these are some of the types of apples, crispy and juicy, cultivated in the cool valleys of Val Venosta that are conquering the world… and in particular an European country: Spain!

The Association of the fruit and vegetable Cooperatives in Val Venosta that produces the precious apple has flown in Spain to bring this Italian delicacy, coming from Alto Adige to be precise. They went to the biggest fruit and vegetable fair of the country: Fruit Attraction; 19 countries attending and more than 25.000 visitors.
Why in Spain? The Mediterranean country, kissed by the sun is greedy of our apples coming from Trentino Alto Adige and represent a fundamental expanding market for the trade of the forbidden fruit.

The data of the season 2014-2015 are clear: apples from Val Venosta are demanded in many foreign countries that well appreciate the high quality of these apples. They receive the 50% of the whole production, whereas the other half remains on the Italian tables. The strategic markets are located in Germany, Scandinavia, Iberian Peninsula and east Europe, even if Spain achieved the first position and represent, as the Sales manager of VI.P, Fabio Zanesco, said, almost the 8% of total exports. Absolute volumes are increasing of the 10% in respect of the past season.

Do you know which are the most demanded and appreciated types? Golden Delicious achieved the first position and won the majority of the selling. Then, the 15-20% is occupied by the red and bicolour apples such as the sweet Red Delicious, Kanzi, the crispy Gala and finally the juicy Pinova, a variety that the producers are developing to enrich the whole selection.
